Hallgrímskirkja is a house of worship and prayer. We kindly ask you to be mindful of that while visiting the church. Kindly observe restrictions and timing for sightseeing of the church and opening of the tower during religous services and various other events.

Tower: 9:00-19:45
Valid from September 1st 2024 - May 19th 2025
Church: 10:00 - 17:00
Tower: 10:00 - 16:30 (last entrance to tower)
Tower tickets:
Tickets are available in the church shop located to the left as you enter the foyer.
The tower ticket is valid for one visit on the day of purchase.
Adults: 1400 ISK
Children: 7-16 : 200 ISK
Discount price for seniors (67+), disabled (disability card) and students (valid student
card): 1000 ISK
Discount of 10% for groups of 10 people or more if payed together.
School groups of students 16 and younger is free and accompanying adults and students over
16 get 10% discount.
School groups of students 17 and older get 10% discount as do accompanying adults.
Prebooking for tower visits is not possible.
Opening hours
Sundays: 11:00 - 12:15. Service/mass. Tower is closed from 10:30-12:15.
Service in English on the last Sunday every month. 14:00 - 15:00. Tower is open.
Wednesdays: 9:00 - 9:45. Morning service/mass. Tower is open.
Thursdays: 12 - 12: 30. Meditation and organ music from September - May. Tower is open.
Last Thursday every month from September - April - Evening church 2023-'24: 20:00 - 22: 00. Tower is closed.
Organ concerts at 12:00 first Saturday of every month from September to June. Tickets sold in the church shop and on www.tix.is Tower is closed.
Accepted currency:
EUR, USD, GBP, CHF, CAD
Coins in foreign currency are not accepted.
Change is only given in Icelandic króna.
Most credit and debet cards are accepted (except for American Express and Discover).
For your information and consideration when visiting the church:
Ground floor access for wheelchairs and disabled is very good.
Access to the tower is via elevator to the 8th floor.
No wheelchair access is to the top floor but the view from the 8th floor is stunning.

Please talk softly in the nave and avoid making phone calls,
Consumption of food is not allowed in the nave nor the tower.
Consumption of drinks (other then water) is not allowed in the nave.
Consumption of alcoholic drinks is not allowed inside church (foyer, nave, tower).
It is not allowed to move or rearrange the position of objects in the nave or the tower.
It is not allowed to store luggage inside the church or to roll suitcases on the floor of the nave. There is no storage facilites for luggage.
Commercial photography or recording of any kind is not allowed in the nave or in the tower and is subject to the approval of the church administrator!
Wedding photography is not allowed in the church.
